Aestus

A forecast you can be held to.

An aestus is a forecast made for a decision rather than a report. It answers one operating question over a short horizon: can this work be done in this window, and at what risk.

Term. Conscient Aestus is the product; this page defines the word.

Origin

From the Latin aestus: tide, surge, heat. Conscient Group borrows the sense deliberately and applies it to operating decisions rather than to the sea.

Usage

An aestus is produced for a window and an operation. It is a forecast you can be held to, not a description of conditions. An aestus carries the provenance of every run that produced it.

What it is not

  • a consulting engagement
  • a services firm
  • a trading signal
  • a weather report

Not to be confused with

the Latin noun itself. If you arrived here looking for the Latin, you want a dictionary.
